Sri Lanka had set Bangladesh a 258-run win target in the first innings. After being given the opportunity to bat first, Sri Lanka could not get off to a strong start, and Karunaratne (18) was quickly dismissed. However, the second opener Pathum Nissanka (40), together with Kusal Mendins (50), batted admirably. But Sadira Samarawickerma (93) successfully overcame Lanka’s score, which fell seven runs short of the century. His performance made it possible for Sri Lanka to complete the required number of overs with 257 for 9 wickets.
