This occasion, also known as World Indigenous Day or International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, is a significant chance to fight actively against violations of the fundamental rights of tribal communities around the world.

Tribal Day 2023 History
This day was first observed as a result of a global campaign to recognize the rights and significant contribution of indigenous peoples. Even though indigenous groups make up about 6% of the world’s population and have a wide range of cultural traditions, they are typically poor.
The idea to set out a day to celebrate indigenous peoples started in the UN. The main objective was to protect these populations’ rights and make sure that their views were heard globally.
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous People was formally recognized and celebrated by the UN General Assembly in December 1994.

In India, the word “Adivasi” is used to refer to a wide variety of regional and tribal communities that are considered to be the nation’s first residents.
According to the 2011 census, these tribal tribes make up about 8.6% of India’s total population, which totals over 104 million people.
Even though the largest tribal populations are located in central India, just around 10% of the people there are from these groups.
