Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam Dhar, Govind Namdev, and Arun Govil play major parts in the stand-alone sequel to the 2012 hit Oh My God!, OMG 2.

The satirical comedy-drama OMG 2 is actor Akshay Kumar’s attempt at a comeback after a string of critical and financial failures. Arun Govil, Yami Gautam Dhar, Govind Namdev, and Pankaj Tripathi all play significant roles in the Amit Rai-written and -directed movie. The release of OMG 2 is scheduled for August 11.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the movie a ‘A’ (Adults Only) rating before it was released, without asking for any cuts rather than recommended more than 25 modifications.

In OMG 2, Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva who lives in the holy center of Ujjain, relates his experience. His god appears in front of him at a crucial time and helps him overcome the difficulties he suffers.

The movie’s producers debuted a one-minute, 26-second teaser earlier this month, introducing the world of OMG 2 and introducing important players, including actor Pankaj Tripathi in the role of a devotee and Akshay playing Lord Shiva. A few days ago, they also made a powerful tune from the movie available. The song “Har Har Mahadev” presents Akshay Kumar showing a powerful “tandav” as his Lord Shiva avatar. The song features a large group of devotees dancing to the fast-paced music and celebrating their god.

However, after all the planning, OMG 2 recently faced trouble when a priest from the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain ordered that sequences shot there be removed, according to news agency ANI. Mahesh Sharma, a priest at the Mahakaleshwar temple, declared: “The censor board has awarded the movie Oh My God 2 a ‘A’ certificate. This certification is only available for movies with adult material. We demand that certain scenes that were shot in the Mahakal temple be deleted because they can hurt viewers’ religious sensitivity. We will start protests across the nation if our demand is not met.

As a stand-alone sequel to his 2012 hit, OMG – Oh My God!, Akshay Kumar seems to have chosen a wise choice with OMG 2 given the stage of his career he is in. His most recent film, Raj Mehta’s Selfiee, was a massive flop that cost well over $100 million to produce but only generated $24.6 crore globally.
